Tools of the Trade – Versa-Lift

As professional machinery handlers we have a variety of tools and equipment at our disposal to ensure each project is carried out safely, efficiently and effectively.

As someone who has a vested interest in ensuring your own machinery related projects are a success, we thought it might be interesting to highlight some of these tools and how they might be of benefit.

This short series of ‘Tools of the Trade’, continues with a look at Versa-Lift forklifts…

What is a Versa-Lift

Designed specifically for industrial Riggers to move heavy machinery smoothly and safely, the Versa-lift is essentially the big brother to the standard counter-balanced forklift truck.

Like the standard forklift, the Versa-Lift comes equipped with forks and a jib/boom. The mast can also tilt forward and back. They’re powered by LPG or battery, the same as a standard forklift.

Unlike a standard forklift, the rear counterweight is fully adjustable, both in amount of weight carried and the position of the counterweight (the counterweight can be driven backwards by the operator to increase the load carrying capacity). The obvious advantage with this, is the Versa-Lift is capable of handling much heavier loads than any standard forklift truck, whilst still being of a size compact enough to work inside factories and other restrictive areas unsuitable for larger plant.

Load Capacities

There are numerous models with various capacities of Versa-lift available.

The three models we most commonly use are the 25/35, 40/60 and 60/80.

Following are the basic load charts for these three models, each shown with the largest number of available counterweight slabs loaded. You can see from these charts that even the smallest of the three is capable of lifting just over 16 tonnes, with the right configuration.

The counterweight slabs are readily removable to reduce the overall weight of the machine, as required. Obviously, this affects the load capacity accordingly – please get in touch with the team at Novatec, if more advice is required on this.

The Right Tools in the Right Hands

Our Versa-lift operators are all fully trained and certified to use this equipment correctly.

Furthermore, with years of machinery handling and rigging experience, we have the expertise to ensure the whole lifting operation is carried out to the highest standards and with minimal disruption to your operation, from start to finish.

If you have a challenging lift that you think may benefit from a Versa-lift, please get in touch with the team at Novatec to discuss further – we’re always up for a challenge and love to help!
